Falcons should consider trading back in NFL draft

Is a top 5 pick in the team's future?

The Atlanta Falcons sit at 4-10 currently and they finish the season with a pair of road games against the Chiefs and Bucs.

At this point it is assumed the Falcons will lose both games, finish the season at 4-12, and have, at-worst, the fifth overall pick in the NFL draft, and possibly as high as the third overall pick.

With a pick in the 3-5 range, the Falcons should be able to make a move that can positively impact the team's chances of winning for a new coach and GM in 2021.

Atlanta Falcons analyst and former NFL WR Harry Douglas joined John and Hugh on Tuesday morning and shared what he felt would be the best move for the Falcons at the top of the NFL draft.

"If the Falcons get a top-five pick I would consider one of the teams that have two first-round draft picks and trade back,” says Harry Douglas. “I would draft Trey Lance (North Dakota St. QB) and let him sit behind Matt Ryan and learn and take a DE or DT because the tackle and end positions are deep this year.”

The team that immediately jumps out at you as having multiple first round picks is the Miami Dolphins, but they may not be interested in giving any of those up.
