Let’s say the Atlanta Falcons do hire Bill Belichick to be their next head coach. Let’s say Belichick is OK with not having full control over personnel decisions, and is willing to be collaborative with Terry Fontenot. Let's say the Falcons bring in a veteran quarterback this offseason and go into full win-now mode. Is that a bad Band-Aid solution for the Falcons?

Is it in the best interest of the Falcons to bring in a head coach that will be 72 when the season starts, pay a lot of money to or trade for a veteran quarterback who probably has a heavy salary cap number, go all-in for three to five seasons, and then be back to the drawing board once Belichick and that veteran quarterback retire?

If that plan wins the Falcons a Super Bowl or multiple Super Bowls then it’s definitely worth it. But if it doesn’t it will most likely just feel like a big waste of time, money, and potentially draft picks.

Arthur Blank, Rich McKay, and the Falcons are currently at a fork in the road where they can either take a shot at getting their head coach and quarterback for the next decade plus, or get a head coach and quarterback that maybe is a faster track to winning, but not the greatest route for sustained success.

Both options could result in Super Bowls, both could not work out, but only one option has the potential for sustained success. Arthur Blank has to decide which one is more important.
