Former Falcons WR Julio Jones made waves in Atlanta this week after publicly discussing his frustrations with the team and some of its ex-coaching staff – namely Kyle Shanahan – for decisions made in the team’s notorious Super Bowl loss.
Jones lamented the fact that he only had four targets in the team’s Super Bowl LI loss to the Patriots alongside former teammates Roddy White and Harry Douglas on their joint independent “Legacy Locker Room Podcast.”
It’s a particularly appropriate show title given the topics discussed on the recent episode, which centered around Jones’ usage within then-offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan’s scheme. Jones also lamented how his chronic injury issues affected his ability to participate either in practices or games, and said media drove misleading narratives about his ability to participate.
Jones will go down as one of the most prolific receivers in NFL history on a per-down basis, racking up various team- and NFL records across a career that will undoubtedly land the Alabama native in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
