The Atlanta Braves are 0-4 after getting swept in San Diego by the Padres, and while the offense has gotten off to a slow start to the season, being shutout twice, the bullpen is also of concern, and specifically one pitcher has had a rough go, Hector Neris, and the Braves have seen enough from him, DFA'ing the reliever after just two appearances and calling up fan-favorite Jesse Chavez to replace him.

Chavez, who has famously been a member of the Braves organization on five different occasions, who was added late this spring after initially joining the Rangers on a minor-league deal, has had his best performances while with the Braves.

Jesse Chavez was a member of the Braves World Series team in 2021, is 41 years old and will be turned 42 during the season, had a career Braves ERA of 3.09 in 186 appearances, the only better stretch of his career came during a stint with the Cubs in 2018. Recently he's had rough outings when with other clubs only to re-join Atlanta and become stable again, and that's the hope once more.
