The Atlanta Braves made a trade on Thursday, acquiring outfielder Joc Pederson from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for first baseman Bryce Ball, who was their No. 12 prospect in the organization.

Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos said Pederson will play right field.

"Right now, he'll be in right field, and playing-time stuff, that'll be up to (manager Brian Snitker), but we're excited to have him."

With Ronald Acuna Jr. out with an ACL injury, the Braves were in need of not only another outfielder, but a bat in the lineup as well.

"Joc Pederson is a good player," Andy Bunker of the Midday Show said.

"He's absolutely better than what you have right now. And honestly, if Ronald Acuna was healthy, you'd probably still find a way to get him in the outfield because he's probably better than some of those other guys as well. At least he's been more consistent in his career. You've got a guy who can hit for power, he's a decent outfielder, you've got an option to control him next year if you want...he's probably going to be here (next year)."
