Since returning to the starting quarterback role for the Atlanta Falcons, Kirk Cousins is 2-2 and coming off his most impressive performance as he finished with 30 completions on 44 attempts for 373 yards and three touchdown passes, proving the veteran quarterback is still capable of producing at a high level.
On Wednesday, 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell shared their thoughts on why they believe the Falcons should consider discussing a return to Atlanta with Cousins as the timeline for Michael Penix Jr., who underwent season ending surgery to repair a partially torn ACL, has yet to be determined and could create uncertainty for the start of the 2026 season if Cousins does not return, which he later explained is a conversation he will not be entertain until 2026.
“I think February, March questions are great in February and March,” Cousins said when he joined Dukes and Bell and addressed whether or not he would be willing to be the Falcons starting quarterback next season if Penix Jr. will not be ready and he and the Falcons can agree on terms he would be happy with.
“I think Falcons’ fans have a lot to look forward with Mike as the quarterback,” said in support of the second-year quarterback being the Falcons’ starter and continued to note where he is in regards to wanting to be a starter in the NFL. “Who knows what’s going to happen. I think it’s got to be looked at when we get to the end of the season. There’s still a lot left,” Cousins said. “We’ll see where we are come March,” Cousins added.
