Michael Soroka could play hero for a weakened Braves starting rotation

The Atlanta Braves got unwelcome news Tuesday when it was revealed their ace Max Fried will hit the 15-day IL with forearm discomfort. While the likes of Bryce Elder and Charlie Morton have settled into back end of the starting rotation, a familiar face could return soon to try and play hero for the club as Fried and Kyle Wright make their way back.

Michael Soroka has spent the entire 2023 season at Triple-A Gwinnett and his return to the majors could help fortify the rotation.

Soroka will need to improve on his early results, however, as he is currently 0-1 with a 5.23 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP. The 25-year-old will look to regain his 2019 All-Star form when he posted a 13-4 record with a 2.68 ERA.

No timetable has been given thus far for his return. Soroka has dealt with multiple injuries including twice tearing his Achilles tendon.
