Turn in a gun, get paid for it, no questions asked. Those are the only rules for those bringing in guns to this weekends guy buyback in the City of South Fulton.

Rapper Pastor Troy says getting guns off the streets is necessary to bring down the crime rate in metro Atlanta. "I just tell the young brothers that they have to stay out of trouble. Make good decisions. Don't let anybody play you off the streets." Troy says guns are a big part of the trouble. He's co-hosting the gun buyback on Saturday, October 9, along with the City of South Fulton.

Councilwoman Carmalitha Gumbs says it's just a small token at making a difference in the community. "We've already taken about 70 guns off the streets with this program", Gumbs adds, "we're promoting safe gun ownership and we want to get illegal guns off the streets." The city has been in existence for 4 years.

Pastor Troy encourages those with guns they no longer want or need to "turn those guns in and help keep our streets safe."

According to Gumbs, they're giving $100 for rifles turned in, $75 for hand guns, and $25 for broken guns. The gun buyback is Saturday from 9am to 1pm in the parking lot of the Butner Road Police precinct located at 3220 Butner Road.
