It’s important to have an experienced head coach, it’s important to have a head coach that’s a good talent evaluator, it’s also important to have a head coach who knows how to hold players accountable, but one quality that all of the good and definitely great head coaches have that a lot of times gets overlooked in today’s day and age is the ability to connect with players. Luckily for the Atlanta Falcons Raheem Morris has that quality, and earlier today The Morning Shift explained why that’s such an important quality for a successful head coach to have.

“It’s more important than it’s ever been that you can motivate players in a locker room and connect with players in a locker room. It’s more important than it’s ever been as a head coach.” Former Atlanta Falcon Mike Johnson said about the importance of being able to connect and motivate NFL players in a locker room today.

Former Atlanta Falcons Quarterback Matt Ryan was on CBS Sports HQ on Monday and said that Raheem Morris’ ability to connect with his players is one of the many reasons he’s excited about this hire for the Falcons.

“I think he’s a guy that number one connects with his players, and guys are going to love playing for him. He’s got the ability to kind of make it known that he cares about his guys, but at the same time can hold them accountable, and really that’s the key right, showing love and then being able to push them. I think he’ll do that really well…”

Las Vegas Raiders players were so adamant about taking the interim tag off of Antonio Pierce and making him the permanent Head Coach because he can relate and connect with his players. Jerod Mayo is now the Head Coach in New England because he will be able to connect with his players. Raheem Morris not only has the experience, knows the game, knows the organization, will hold guys accountable, but he connects with his players, and as Matt Ryan said Falcons players will “love playing for him”, and that’s why he’s the guy here in Atlanta.
