43rd OIS GBI investigation of 2023 involves a murder

The 43rd officer involved shooting this year that the GBI has been requested to investigate occurred in Bibb County Wednesday.

Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies say they received information about the location of a murder suspect, Anthony Donnell Baldwin Jr, age 30, of Macon, GA. Baldwin is the suspect in a case involving a 2022 Bibb County homicide investigation. He was near the Housing Authority Apartment Complex on Felton Avenue at Alabama Street in Macon.

According to a statement from GBI Public Affairs Director Nelly Miles: Baldwin was seen in a GMC Yukon that was also reported as stolen. Deputies responded to the area and found Baldwin in the SUV. They began to follow Baldwin and initiated a traffic stop. Baldwin stopped and quickly got out of the SUV. Baldwin then reached back into the SUV and grabbed a firearm. A Bibb County deputy fired his gun towards Baldwin, hitting him. Baldwin was subsequently taken to Navicent Medical Center for medical treatment.

Miles goes on to say that no deputies were injured and that a young child was in the SUV but was not injured.
