Kirk Cousins’ comments on why he played through elbow and shoulder injuries last season during his appearances on season two of the Netflix docuseries ‘Quarterback’ has reignited the unpleasant memories and irritated emotions of Atlanta Falcons fans.
The Dirty Bird faithful aren’t wrong to be upset at the Falcons’ now backup QB, but the criticism of Falcons’ Head Coach Raheem Morris doesn’t sit right with Beau Morgan of The Morning Shift, and earlier today on the show Beau called out fans and even his own co-worker Abe Gordon for what he believes are unfair criticisms of Atlanta’s Head Coach.
“If I’m Raheem and I watch the film of the Vikings game I think the guy is fine. I sit next to Dave Archer every week in the broadcast booth, and we’re talking and he’s like that throw he makes on the sideline to Darnell Mooney against the Vikings is as good of an NFL throw as you’ll see, and you have to be feeling it to make that throw and you have to put some touch and some velocity on that throw, so check yourself when you’re like well Raheem should’ve known.”
“While all those quarterbacks according to Abe would’ve done the same thing, so would’ve a majority of head coaches and so would’ve a majority of GMs who just signed that guy to that kind of contract so again it’s easy to put ourselves in what Raheem should’ve done.” Beau said
In that five game stretch where Cousins threw one touchdown and nine interceptions there were times where he looked healthy, and there were times where he didn’t look healthy, and if the veteran quarterback who had by then earned the trust of Head Coach Raheem Morris was telling his head coach that he can play and was going to get out the funk he was in then you can’t blame Raheem for trusting his QB and allowing him a little extra time to get out of the funk that he was in.
