When might we see Mike Soroka back in a Braves uniform?

Former All Star has been out since 2020

Mike Soroka made his debut for the Atlanta Braves in 2018, and became the youngest pitcher in Braves history to make an All-Star Game when he was selected for the mid-summer classic in 2019.

Soroka finished 2019 with an impressive 13-4 record, and seemed to be on a trajectory to become one of baseball’s best young pitchers.

Unfortunately for Mike Soroka, the coronavirus pandemic delayed to beginning of the 2020 MLB season, and after making only three starts once the MLB season began in late July, Soroka suffered a season ending torn Achilles in early August.

The bad news did not stop there for the talented right hander. After rehabbing to return in 2021, Soroka suffered a huge set back when he re-tore the same Achilles on June 24, 2021.

Now here we are almost a full year later, and the latest reports are that Soroka could be ready to start to throw to live batters in the next few weeks.

“I think we will start to see him pitch in some minor league games in about a week” said Joe Patrick, 92.9 the Game’s Braves Reporter to Andy & Randy earlier this week.

When asked by Randy to predict when Soroka might make his return back to the majors, Joe replied “Roughly after the All Star game, but before the trade deadline is the hope.”

If Mike Soroka can show the same form he displayed in 2019, the Braves could have a major addition for the post season push.
