With Major League Baseball's Opening Day on Thursday, it appears the Braves roster is set barring any late additions. Dukes & Bell talked about the roster and with the team only carrying four bench players should fans be worried about the team’s depth?
Carl Dukes doesn’t think there should be concern.
“To start the season you’ve got to feel pretty good about what Brian Snitker has done and how he viewed this,” Dukes said. “One of the worries is the bench players. I’m not sure why you are worried about that. Maybe you weren’t paying as much attention this year to spring training, but Pablo Sandoval was knocking the cover off the ball. Ehire Adrianza is another guy who has made this team coming over from the Twins, who is a versatile player, who was killing it in spring training.
“Both of the guys were non-roster invitees and they make the team, so it’s not like they didn’t earn their spot. Obviously, you have Ender. He’s in the last year of a $9 million deal, they have a buyout next year, that’s probably what’s going to happen. But he’s here now and brings versatility help when you need it. And then you have Alex Jackson the rookie catcher.”
