92.9 The Game Atlanta Braves insider Grant McAuley joined Dukes & Bell for his daily appearance and talked about why the team has brought back reliever Jesse Chavez and what will his role be this time around?

When asked why the team signed Chavez off waivers from the Angels.

“I think the big thing about it is he’s such a great fit for this club, so when Jesse became available again and the Angels put him on waivers it was just an opportunity to put him in a group he knows so well,” McAuley said. “Bullpen culture perhaps as much or more important than any other segment on the club. This is a group that spends an awful lot of time together, they go to war together they’re expected to be that first line of defense every time, they have specific roles and innings and opportunities to help their club out and they take a lot of pride in that, I think Jesse’s been a great contributor for it.”

Grant talked about how Chavez will be used by the team.

“The Braves were happy to get him back and this is a trade in which Alex Anthopoulos essentially traded Tucker Davidson and Jesse Chavez for Raisel Iglesias and Jesse Chavez if you wanna really break it down. It’s fun to have him back and I do fill that he’s exceled in that role where the Braves have needed him to and that’s been coming in with a big lead, big deficit’s typically and getting some important outs for this club.”
