The Atlanta Falcons traded suspended wide receiver Calvin Ridley Tuesday ahead of the NFL’s trade deadline to the Jacksonville Jaguars for conditional draft compensation. Dukes & Bell talked about why this was the right move for the team to move on from Ridley.

Carl talked about the lack of trust the organization had with Ridley.

“Why is this the best move for the Falcons? This is pretty simple for me, you can’t trust him, and I’m not saying that he’s ever gonna do what he just did again,” Dukes said. “To put the team in jeopardy as he did, you have a new head coach who’s taking over a team who is trying to build a culture. You have a new general manager in Terry Fontetnot, who is taking over a team who’s trying to build and bring in the right personnel. This is just something they’re ready to wipe their hands from, it’s that simple.”

Dukes talked about why this was the best move for the team.

“So when you move on this makes it easier for the team to bring in that new culture and have the set of players and standards you’re trying to have your new team abide by," said Dukes. "You don’t have to worry about bringing this back into the locker room. Every time he would miss a pass with us moving forward you’d wonder. Every time he would come up short of a first down, you’d wonder. Fair or unfair, so why even put yourself through that situation.

"This, by a mile, was the best thing to do for the Falcons. I didn’t know if they would but I’m so glad they were able to do this.”
