This evening to close out The Nick Kayal Show, Nick discussed and posed the question of: Which team has the better chance to win it all, Georgia or the Atlanta Braves? Nick believes both teams are ready to bring home championships saying “The Braves and the Bulldogs are built to win now.” It’s safe to say it would be a big morale boost to the city of Atlanta who have gone through a lot with their sports teams over the past couple of years.
We all know what happened on that treacherous night in Houston on the first Sunday in February in 2017. Atlanta United did bring home an MLS Cup in 2018, but this city also saw the Georgia Bulldogs lose in overtime to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2018 National Championship game, the Atlanta Hawks have been in rebuild mode the past two seasons, and the latest heartbreak for Atlanta was blowing a three games to one lead to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2020 National League Championship Series. However, with all that heartbreak maybe coming to a head in what was a doozy of a year in 2020 could the year 2021 end the “Atlanta Sports Curse”.
If the Georgia Bulldogs will be the team to end the curse Nick believes it will be because of quarterback JT Daniels returning to run their high powered offense. Nick says “The Bulldogs are going to be what Florida was last year.” Nick continues by saying “I think this is going to be a team that scores over forty points a game.” If it will be the Braves that bring home their second World Series, Nick believes it will be behind the bats of Marcell Ozuna, Ronald Acuna, and of course reigning MVP of the league Freddie Freeman. It will also be because of a revamped starting rotation that includes offseason acquisitions Charlie Morton, Drew Smyly, and aces Max Fried and Mike Soroka. Whether these two teams win their respective championships or not Nick Kayal believes both teams should be there at the very end saying “These two teams should be in their respective final fours.” If this is true it will be a fun 2021 for the city of Atlanta.
For Nick Kayal he believes that it will all come down to the first game of the season for the Dawgs saying “If Georgia beats Clemson week one they will run the table.” However, Nick did mention that even if the Bulldogs lose their opener against Clemson that they could run the table after that and still get themselves into the College Football Playoff. As far as the Atlanta Braves are concerned, it seems like the only thing in their way is the pesky Dodgers. It will mean so much to the city of Atlanta if one of these teams brings home a championship, but what if both teams could bring home a championship in 2021?
