Jeff Ulbrich doesn't need to ease up with Falcons defensive pressure
The Atlanta Falcons saw much improvement in the 2025 season defensively under defensive coordinator, Jeff Ulbrich, in comparison to previous seasons as they took major jumps in sacks, finishing second in the NFL with 57, and turnover ratio at +5 with 16 interceptions and seven fumble recovers.
“I think he does some good things,” 92-9 The Game’s Mike Bell, said as he praised Ulbrich for how he was able to get the Falcons’ defense to play last season, however noted he had concerns in regards to there being times in which the defensive play calling appeared to be questionable.
“I think there’s some things out there that leave me scratching my head sometimes,” Bell continued as he explained why Ulbrich’s decisions in regards to pressure the defense brings at times leaves him confused.
“It just drives me crazy that you can be rushing four or five, whatever your base package is, you’ve added some extra heat, and you’ve just created a third and 15, and now you’re only going to rush three,” Bell said recalling the Falcons matchup against the Indianapolis Colts last season in which they had a late fourth quarter lead before allowing Daniel Jones to rush for 19-yards on a third and 21 play, eventually leading to a fourth and two conversion and game tying field goal to force overtime and the Colts eventually picking up the 31-16 win. “Don’t’ overthink it,” Bell said.
