On the latest edition of Couples Café with The Turners, listeners were introduced to Timothy and Tony Robinson, a couple whose relationship demonstrates the value of patience, maturity, and faith in love. The Robinsons, married in September 2025, shared their journey from separate lives to a shared commitment after more than three decades of previous experiences with marriage.
Timothy Robinson, a retired U.S. Army veteran with 24 years of service, and Tony Robinson, a senior project manager originally from Florida, both acknowledged the significance of timing and preparedness in forming lasting relationships. “For me, I think it’s maturity at this point in my life,” Tony said. “I’ve been divorced over 30 years and really didn’t think I would get married again. I joined Match.com and Tim was on there as well.”
Their story began online, with Tony initially responding to Tim’s outreach after a second attempt to connect. She emphasized the importance of honesty and intention in her approach. “I was very open and honest about what I was expecting at this point in my life,” she said.
Tim and Tony both brought prior marital experiences to the relationship, which shaped their expectations and interactions. Timothy had been married to the same woman twice and has two children, while Tony had been married twice and is a mother of two sons. Both described the importance of communication and shared responsibilities in navigating a blended life. “The main thing is when I first met her she told me what she was looking for… that’s what I was willing to do. So that’s what I try,” Tim said.
The couple also discussed the practical steps they took to ensure a smooth transition into shared life, including living arrangements and marriage counseling prior to their wedding. Tony emphasized the significance of combining households with openness and fairness. “It’s everything for me is ours. I don’t refer to mine in any part of the house,” she said.
