The City of East Point is set to host the Peachtree International Film Festival, November 7-10 with four full days of workshops, and panels on potential number one films at various locations throughout the city. Ticket prices range from free to $250 for VIP tickets. Short films are $5 and feature films are $10.
“Partnerships gave us the opportunity to showcase East Point’s rich cultural heritage, venues, and hospitality with 20 branded hotels throughout the city,” said Chantal Ross Francois, President of the East Point Convention and Visitors Bureau and a Travel and Tourism Sales Professional.
The film festival will take place at Four Points by Sheraton on Camp Creek, The Sonesta Hotel on Virginia Avenue, and Black Arts in America Festival, which was featured in Forbes Magazine.
“We walked into something [East Point] already established,” said Len Gibson, producer of the film festival for 19 years.
When asked why East Point was chosen as the host city, Gibson said, “We were looking for something different, and it was like bing, bing, bing because there was no festival in East Point. East Point is where the world meets, and it’s right next to the airport. It made a lot of sense.”
The film festival will not just feature films like the new comedy by Shaquille O’Neal, “The Car Lot”, but also films by Jamal Willard and Mark Harris. The featured films will include anime, foreign language, inspirational documentaries, music videos, podcasts, screen plays, and commercials.
Gibson says when films are chosen, they are what the audience likes as long they are formatted properly and technically sound.
“East Point is already a camera-ready city designated by the state of Georgia; it is also near Tyler Perry Studios. We were featured in the Toronto International Film Festival as the city representing Georgia,” said Francois.
