In a time often marked by uncertainty and division, Lester and Carolyn Pleasant offered listeners a reflection on commitment, faith and endurance during their appearance on Couples Cafe on "Let's Talk About It With The Turners".

The Turners highlighted The Pleasants personal story as an example of lasting partnership. They emphasized the importance of celebrating positive love stories, particularly during challenging seasons.

The Pleasents met in their mid-20s through a blind date arranged for Carolyn’s birthday. While their initial connection was brief and unremarkable, their paths crossed again months later, leading to a year of dating followed by a two-year separation when Lester relocated for work. During that time, the couple had little contact, each continuing with their own lives.

Their story took a decisive turn when Lester, who had recently recommitted himself to church, felt prompted to reconnect. After traveling to Oklahoma City to see Carolyn, he realized their relationship held deeper meaning than he had previously acknowledged.

The Pleasants told listeners they have now been married for more than four decades. “We’ve been married for 41 years,” She said.

The Pleasants consistently pointed to faith as the foundation of their relationship. Prayer, they explained, became a daily practice early in their marriage and remained central through raising children, career changes and life transitions across multiple states. Lester described making a personal commitment during his second marriage to lead his household through prayer, a decision he credits with strengthening their bond.

I am so glad that I listened to the Lord,” Lester said.

The conversation also addressed conflict resolution and perseverance. Rather than viewing disagreements as threats, the Pleasants described approaching challenges with the understanding that separation was never an option. They emphasized resolving issues privately, maintaining respect and relying on prayer before reacting emotionally.
