AutoNSider Review | 2020 Hyundai Venue SEL
So…what’ll ya’ have? Maybe a dozen new Hyundai Venues…or one pre-owned McLaren?
Well I doubt that anyone other than Oprah would ever have to make that choice, but if content were the deciding factor, you jut might have to look twice at the Venue!
Yes…we non-one-percenters have never had it so good.
Vehicles are better than ever, and Hyundai’s new-for-2020 Venue is a prime example.
While the Venue is an absolute delight to drive around town, its content is what’s earning the Venue so many stellar reviews. In addition to what I’d call “sassy style”, here’s what $23,280 for a top-of-the-line Hyundai Venue will get you:
Four doors…legitimate room for four or five…a useful rear hatch…and 30 – 34 MPG, sunroof, 17” alloys, heated front seats and mirrors, a proximity key and push-button start, Sirius radio, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warnings, forward collision warning and avoidance, lane-keeping assist, driver attention warning, roof rails…and a bit more.
And that’s for less than $24K for the highest trim level Venue. Drop the sunroof and a few other nice touches and you’ll be on the South side of twenty thousand.
But is Hyundai’s new for ’20 Venue what they used to call a “Penalty Box”?
No. Not at all. And that’s what’s so great about the Venue and a number of cars like it. The Venue is legitimately fun to drive. Now I know that 121 HP out of a 1.6 liter four doesn’t sound like all that much, but in a smaller vehicle like the Venue, it’ll move you into the passing lane much faster than you’d ever expect.
And parking? Easy breezy. Even into those spaces where the guy next to you in the big SUV or truck has his tires well over into your space. Again, this vehicle is a real delight around town…which is not to say that you couldn’t enjoy mid-thirties mileage on the road with two or three…maybe four folks and a little luggage.
Just a few years ago, most manufacturer’s smallest and lowest-priced vehicles used to scream…or moan…cheap…and usually ugly, too.
No more. Hyundai’s new 2020 Venue is a tidy and sassy package that proves that we “value shoppers” have never had it so good!
