Metro-Atlanta Sheriff, Victor Hill of Clayton County – GA may be a controversial law enforcement official, but in his county, crime is down, citizens are happy, morale is high and unlike police agencies across America who are struggling to keep officers employed, Hill’s office has filled all positions available and the agency has a waiting list for employment.
A notification released from the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office Nixle platform said, “At a time when urban jurisdictions are experiencing difficulty recruiting officers to patrol the streets, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office is experiencing just the polar opposite. As of today, all Deputy Sheriff positions at the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office are now filled with an active waiting list of candidates ready to come aboard. The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office has attracted law-enforcement officers not only from agencies around Georgia, but officers and deputies from other states as well [are] willing to relocate to work for the crime fighting Sheriff. Even a former police chief has now joined the ranks at the Sheriff’s Office”
According to law enforcement insiders, many deputies seek to work under the leadership of Sheriff Hill due to his reputation as a fair lawman who runs an agency “free of distractions from the press and politics…”. Sheriff Hill went unopposed in his last election and Hill’s office is credited with reducing crime in Clayton County while jurisdictions across the nation are experiencing a substantial increase in crime.
Even though the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office is at full employment capacity, they are encouraging those seeking employment with the agency to still apply and they will be placed on the waiting list. “We are looking for the best of the best and we are now positioned to be selective to build the best crime fighting team in the world” stated Sheriff Hill. “If their faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, or able to leap buildings in a single bound, I’m interested in [them] joining us to fight crime!”
