The NFL’s legal tampering period has begun, and as the Atlanta Falcons begin to construct their roster for the 2026-27 season The Morning Shift discussed what free agents would fit well here in Atlanta and would be realistic options for the Falcons, and earlier today Mike, Ali, and Beau explained why free agent tight end Charlie Kolar would instantly make the Falcons offense more versatile.
“I feel like if you go get a Charlie Kolar you can now do more things with Kyle Pitts, and you become instantly more versatile on offense. I think Charlie Kolar is a starter in the league. I think he can be. I think he could come in and do the in-line blocking in the run game, he can run routes, he has good hands, he can do all those things, and Stefanski from what some people say he likes to use a lot of two tight end sets anyways, now Kyle Pitts can be a second wide receiver and the first tight end, he can do both, and so you get instant versatility.” Beau Morgan said.
Beau also believes the Falcons can sign Kolar to a team friendly deal as well.
“I believe that you could get Kolar for a good price if you get to him first and tell him how you’re going to use him, and then basically be like look dude take a smaller pay day today and in two years you’re going to be signing a fat deal with somebody, maybe even here, because we’re going to introduce the world to you.” Beau said
The Ravens fourth round pick in 2022 has been growing with the team every year since he’s been drafted, but has still been minimal behind Mark Andrews and Isiah Likely, so the Falcons shouldn’t have to overpay for Charlie because of the lack of production, but should be able to entice him to Atlanta if they’re ready to give him a more prominent role in the offense.
