Kevin Stefanski a good hire with 'first timer' president and GM

As the Atlanta Falcons continue to move on from Raheem Morris and Terry Fontenot, they have begun requesting interviews for their general manager position as well as for their offensive coordinator role. And while Atlanta fans seem to be torn in regards to the Stefanski hire, Falcons’ beat writer for The Athletic, Josh Kendall, joined 92-9 The Game’s Carl Dukes and Mike Bell to share his thoughts on why Stefanski may have made the most sense for the Falcons.

“Matt Ryan is a first time executive, I think it’s very likely they’re going to have a first-time general manager so for starters, I think it makes sense that one of that group of three has been though it a few times,” Kendall said as he explained why he believes the Falcons choosing of Stefanski may have been due to the fact he brings some experience to the table. “I always thought Kevin Stefanski made sense from that perspective,” Kendall said.

As their conversation continued, Kendall noted Stefanski is also “a very good personality fit with Matt Ryan,” and his coaching style is one in which Ryan may have been looking for to lead the Falcons. “So I just think he and Matt just fit. Between that and the experience despite Matt [Ryan] assertion that he was not targeting an offensive guy, which I believe, I don’t think he had to have an offensive guy, but I do think he felt some comfort with Kevin Stefanski, particularly his offensive system,” Kendall said.
