CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Affordable housing advocates want Mayor Lightfoot to do what they say former Mayor Emanuel did not: make good housing affordable for all.
Near Altgeld Gardens in the Roseland neighborhood, there are brownfields. Cheryl Johnson lives in that area, and she represents the group People for Community Recovery.
"I'm tired of living in a community that we label as the 'toxic doughnut,'" she said Wednesday.
Johnson and other Chicago residents, like Monica Dillon of Norwood Park, say too often aldermanic prerogative has put the kibosh on affordable housing that is truly affordable for all.
