CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An international exhibition here in Chicago is showing how the profession of architecture can rebuild and change lives through physical community spaces.
The name Chicago Architecture Biennial may sound lofty, but executive director Todd Palmer said the 2019 edition very much focuses on communities.
Issues central to the exhibition include affordable housing and combating violence.
Emmanuel Pratt, founder and director of the Sweet Water Foundation, said his installation focuses on his organization's work to re-build part of the South Side and to train neighborhood people to do it.
Biennial Chairman Jack Guthman said the exhibit, at the Chicago Cultural Center, takes the concept of architecture well beyond the downtown.
Biennial Chairman Jack Guthman and executive director Todd Palmer are guests on our weekly "At Issue" program and you can hear more 9:30 a.m. and p.m. on Sunday.
