CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Why only celebrate Gal-entine's Day in February?
In February, Ironside Bar & Gallery announced the opening of a Sex and the City-inspired pop-up bar, just in time for Valentine's Day. Ladies gathered their girlfriends and headed out to River North for a night filled with cosmos, and celebrated in true Carrie Bradshaw fashion.
In addition to the martinis, there are 11 specialty cocktails inspired by other characters in the series including The "Mr. Big" Takes on Manhattan, The "Aleksander Petrovsky" Piece of Russian Art, The "Aiden Shaw" Spicy Mezcal Mule, The "Anthony Marantino" Paloma Sunrise, The "Harry Goldenblatt" Peach Smash and Splash, The "Stanford Blatch" Black Cherry Limeade, and more. Plus there are two special shot combos inspired by the other men in the series: The "Steve Brady" I'm Industry, Buddy and The "Smith" Sensitive Model Man.
There is also a variety of wines guests can purchase by the glass or bottle.
It is free to attend, but be sure to check ahead of time, as there are nights the pop-up is closed to the public for an event. Pro tip: if you arrive before 6 p.m. at Ironside Bar, they will be sure to get you into the first wave of guests into Cosmo Carrie's below deck.
"Is There Sex in the City," a novel written by the original SATC author Candance Bushnell was purchased by Paramount Television and Anonymous Content.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the book is due in August and will focus on "sex, dating and friendship after age 50 in New York."
A film series followed, with Sex and the City being released in 2008 and Sex and the City 2 being released in 2010.
Plus, due to the book and TV series popularity, a prequel to the original TV series, titled 'The Carrie Diaries' based on the book of the same name by Candace Bushnell, premiered on The CW in January 2013. Unfortunately, unlike the original series, the prequel was canceled in 2014 after just two seasons.
As for SATC fans, fingers crossed on the new book and series to be a success!
