At Chicago Avenue and LSD, Chicago Police officer Michelle Tannehill showed off the new HD cameras to the media.

Tannehill said the cameras are able to record pedestrain traffic, vehicular traffic and read license plates. They will help gather datta on flow of traffic and how many cars are in the area at a given time. However, they are not speed readers, she said.

"Drive safely and do not be distracted by the cameras," Tannehill said.
