DEERFIELD, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- After Governor Pritzker's announcement Friday that schools will be closed for the rest of the 2019-2020 academic year, many high school seniors are wondering what it means for prom and graduation ceremonies.
Deerfield High School is one of many trying to figure out what to do about graduation. Many have wondered what they will do about prom, too.
"Prom and graduation are these moments that every person recalls about their experience in high school," Deerfield High School Principal Kathryn Anderson told CBS 2. "It's something that they look forward to not just from the day that they walk into the high school, but really since they were little kids."
So the school sent out a survey asking students what they wanted for prom and graduation - what they wanted them to look like.
The results said the students wanted in-person celebrations - even if they are postponed to late summer. If the stay-at-home order is not lifted by then, the plan is to have a virtual graduation, including caps and gowns and speeches.
Deerfield High School Principal Kathryn Anderson told CBS 2 she has seen some creative ideas out there, including a request to have Justin Bieber to perform.
