Jackson On Bears' Takeaways: 'Left Some Out There'

(670 The Score) In a 31-15 win against the Redskins on Monday night, the Bears forced five turnovers, their most in a game since 2013.

When it was over, safety Eddie Jackson was both pleased and of the belief that the Bears left more to be desired.

"Not really," Jackson responded when asked on the McNeil & Parkins Show if he was surprised by the five takeaways. "We left some out there, man. (Khalil) Mack got one out, and the quarterback jumped back on it. Then Danny (Trevathan) recovered one and they called it back. So we really were supposed to have seven, but we'll settle with five."

The Bears had three interceptions, including two by safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, and recovered two fumbles.

"It was a good one," Jackson said. "We wanted to come out and get turnovers. We emphasized that big this week, so I'm just happy we delivered the turnovers we wanted to get."

The Bears led the NFL in scoring defense and takeaways in 2018. They're currently allowing 13.0 points through their first three games, the third-best mark in the league, while their six takeaways are tied for sixth.

Is it possible that this defense can be better than the 2018 version?

"Most definitely," Jackson said. "That's the goal we're aiming for. Coach (Matt) Nagy always has a saying -- 'You're either getting better or you're getting worse.' We want to get better. Everybody around us, they know everybody had a lot of success last year. I feel like everyone, especially on the defensive side of the ball, wants to top that.

"There's room for improvement. No one is ever getting complacent."
