(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Ever wondered what you should do if a school bus is stopped, with its arm out on the other side of the road?  A driver in McHenry County found out this week, the hard way.

A McHenry County Sheriff's sergeant was in Marengo Tuesday morning and ticketed the driver in front of him for not remaining stopped when the school bus on the other side of the street was stopped with its arm out and lights flashing.

The only time a driver would not have to stop is if the school bus is on the other side of the road and it's a four-lane road.

The penalty in Illinois: a minimum $150 fine and a three-month suspension of your driver's license.
