CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Governor JB Pritzker is recommending that people wear masks in public to combat the spread of COVID-19. If you don't have a mask, a former Illinois governor will show you how.
Former governor Rod Blagojevich took to YouTube this weekend to show people how to make a mask out of common household materials.
"Here's what I discovered. I discovered great source material for these masks are the old dress shirts you have not worn in eight years - or whatever the reason," Blagojevich said in the video.
He said you can make your mask with a sewing machine or the old-fashioned way with needle and thread.
"That's how I have been working on these, but be careful, there's an occupational hazard. You might cut yourself or stick youself, which I did yesterday," Blagojevich said.
Blagojevich was released from federal prison in Colorado earlier this year, after his 14-year sentence for corruption was commuted by President Trump.
Even though he is a free man, he is sheltering in place and making a mask out of an old dress shirt. He even displayed the shirt, which was full of holes.
"Which is a metephor for what happened to my political career," Blagojevich said.
The video has been viewed over 8,500 times and most of the comments are supportive.
