CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- At least five people were shot — two fatally — Thursday in citywide gun violence, including a man who was found with gunshot wounds in Lawndale on the West Side.
About 8:40 p.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of South Albany Avenue and found a man laying facedown, Chicago police said. The 22-year-old had gunshots in his head, neck and upper body.
He was pronounced on the scene, police said. Area Central detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
A few hours earlier, a 19-year-old man was fatally gunned down in McKinley Park on the Southwest Side.
He was walking about 5:47 p.m. on a sidewalk in the 3400 block of South Bell Avenue when a white-colored SUV pulled out of an alley between Bell and Leavitt Street, police said. Someone inside unleashed gunfire at the man.
He was hit in the abdomen and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he later died, police said.
In non-fatal gun violence, a man was shot while walking to his vehicle in Gresham on the South Side.
About 2:50 a.m., the 22-year-old was in the 9000 block of South Lowe Avenue when a male fired shots at him, police said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where his condition was stabilized.
Thursday's earliest shooting left two men wounded in Back of the Yards.
They were standing next to a vehicle about 12:53 a.m. in the 5300 block of South Justine Street when three masked males approached them and opened fire before running off, police said.
A 28-year-old was hit in the arm, and the other man, 32, was struck in the leg, police said. Both were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where their conditions were stabilized.
Gun violence within city limits on Wednesday left six people wounded.
