Person Questioned In Death Of Man Intentionally Pushed Onto CTA Tracks

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A person of interest is being questioned by police in the death of a man who was intentionally pushed onto the CTA tracks earlier this week at a Red Line station in the Loop.

Chicago police said Saturday that the person who is being questioned was a male, but did not release his age.

About 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, officials said 29-year-old Mamadou Balde, of West Rogers Park, was killed after he was pushed onto the tracks and struck by train during an argument with three people on the Jackson station platform in the 200 block of South State Street.

Balde’s death was later ruled a homicide.

The day after the attack, interim police Supt. Charlie Beck said detectives were following “very strong leads” and that the attack was captured by CTA surveillance cameras.
