CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Over 1,000 women and male supporters, including Mayor Lightfoot and other local women leaders, joined the Women's March 2020 and marched in support of women's rights and equality, ringing in the message of inclusivity.

The march brought women of all ages, generations and races together to speak out about issues such as healthcare access, the gender pay gap, gun reform, climate change, disdain for the White House government and more.

Lightfoot said she was happy to be out marching with fellow Chicagoans toward a common goal of gender quality and was proud to be part of the monumental march.

Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton spoke to supporters about the importance of having Black and Latino women at the helm of leadership.

"We need to make sure that black and brown women are ensured a seat at the table," Stratton said. "The way we do that is by coming out, lifting up our voices and making sure we are heard."

Senator Dick Durbin, Representative Robin Kelly and Representative Jan Schakowsky were among other political leaders in the mass crowd.
