WASHINGTON, D.C. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- President Trump took to Twitter Friday to share his opinion on the A$AP Rocky situation in Sweden and said he will do what he can do have the rapper released from jail.

Trump said that he plans to call the Swedish Prime Minister and see what he can do to have the American rapper and his friends released from jail. They have been behind bars for two weeks since July 2, following a June 30 street fight that broke out in Stockholm. No charges have been filed against the rapper yet, but ABC reported that a Swedish judge ordered that Rocky will be detained until at least July 25.

Just spoke to @KanyeWest about his friend A$AP Rocky’s incarceration. I will be calling the very talented Prime Minister of Sweden to see what we can do about helping A$AP Rocky. So many people would like to see this quickly resolved!

Trump also addressed the issue in person when reporters asked about the case on Friday.

"I personally don't know A$AP Rocky, but I can tell you that he has tremendous support from the African-American community .. and when when I say African-American, I really can really say from everybody in this country because we are all one," the president said.

His actions to help the rapper were applauded by Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West, who are just some of many Hollywood artists and rappers who have rallied for Rocky's release. A Change.org petition was started asking for the rapper's release and was shared by artists such as Schoolboy Q and Tyler the Creator, frequent musical allies with Rocky.

Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Jada Pinket-Smith and other artists have spoken up about freeing Rocky, and #freeASAPRocky is trending on Twitter. Some artists are calling out Sweden and canceling shows in the country, like T-Raww. Tyler the Creator said he will never go back to Sweden.

At the news of Trump's help — which came after the president talked to West — Kardashian West tweeted her thanks to him, Mike Pompeo, Jared Kushner and other government officials involved.

"Your commitment to justice reform is so appreciated," Kardashian Kim tweeted.

People followed suit and took to social media to praise the president's efforts, which attracted different groups and political parties.
