CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An elderly woman was struck and killed by a car on Lake Shore Drive on the South Side, police said.
The 80-year-old woman stumbled onto the street in the 2100 block of South Lake Shore and was hit in the southbound lanes, Chicago police said.
She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she died, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner's office has released details about the death.
Major Accidents team is investigating the crash, police said.
The Chicago Fire Department initially reported that an 80-year-old man was struck at 31st Street and Lake Shore Drive.
