CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Shopping malls are starting to lumber back to life.
After several months of being limited to curbside service, four large shopping malls opened Friday, with several others opening their doors in coming days.
The four malls owned by the Simon Property Group opened at 11 a.m. Friday morning. Woodfield Mall, Orland Square, Gurnee Mills, and the Chicago Premium Outlet mall are all operating in accordance with a number of guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control.
"We are looking forward to seeing whomever decides to come out, definitely come back into the mall. We are definitely looking forward to it," said Woodfield Mall General Manager Laurie Van Dalen.
Van Dalen said employees have been working to make sure the safety measures are in line with the latest CDC recommendations.
"Consistently. All the time. We have new daily routines and we will continue to have those daily routines until there are other changes made," Van Dalen said.
While the mall itself is open, some stores are still closed. You can find a list of of the stores that are open on the Simon Property Group website.
