CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Chicago Police Department is getting into the spirit of Pride Month.
Chicago police unveiled Monday its special patrol car that will be used in this weekend's Pride Parade.
The standard blue and white of Chicago police cruiser 2665 has been replaced by the rainbow colors of the Pride flag. It also has rainbow coloring on the hood and the tailgate.
Police will be marching in and keeping an eye on this Sunday's Pride Parade on the North Side.
Chief of Technical Services Jonathan Lewin supervised the makeover.
"I think that it is important that people see not only do we stand with the community, but that we are part of the community; and just like all segments of Chicago, have people represented in the police department," he said.

"We will be leveraging the city's sureillance camera network, which as you know is one of the largest of its kind in the U.S. So we want people to come out and have fun. This is one of the best Pride celebrations in the world," he said.
