Time is running out to visit Chicago's Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza before it closes for the season.
Christmas Eve is the last day to visit the beloved market downtown, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"I've always wanted to do this, for many years," says Kathy, who traveled from Michigan City. "I told my daughter this year we need to make it happen and I'm just so happy to be here."
It was shoulder to shoulder Tuesday as shoppers snagged last minute presents. For Jenny and her kids, that included hats that look like animals, equipped with moving ears.
"We call that the most fun for thirty dollars," she says.
The German-style Christmas Market lets visitors experience the smell of roasted nuts, fresh pretzels, bratwurst and hot spiced wine, the sound of festive music, and the glimmer of handmade ornaments.
While the Daley Plaza location will be closing, the Wrigleyville Christkindlmarket will remain open with special hours after Christmas, through New Year's Eve.
"We have a lot of fun doing it with a lot of our family," says Jenny's young daughter.
