ELMWOOD PARK, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Two aggressive dogs that were involved in at least four attacks that injured several people and their pets, as well as killed a small dog, have been euthanized.
The Pit Bull mix and Akita owned by Meleina Teodoro are the subject of lawsuits.
They first attacked Amanda Ingram and killed her dog in May in Palatine. She was devastated.
"Imagine seeing someone that you love screaming, crying, being torn apart in front of you and there is nothing you could do," Ingram said.
The dogs injured another person and another dog at that same time.
Ingram and her attorney, Brian Salvi, spoke after the attack.
"The dogs should be euthanized. They are a threat to society," Ingram said.
Salvi added: "We don't advocate for the putting down of these dogs lightly. This is all about doing what is necessary to make sure that this doesn't happen to somebody else."
The owner of the dogs, Meleina Teodoro, was cited by for more than a dozen ordinance violations. She was told the dogs had to leave Palatine, so she moved to Elmwood Park and it happened again in July; another person and dog were attacked and injured.
And then it happened again this week.
Cook County Animal Care and Control took the dogs, and they have since been euthanized. The victims of all four attacks are suing the Village of Palatine and Teodoro.
