COVID-19 Vaccine

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Two new mass vaccination sites open Monday in Chicago - one at Chicago State University and another just outside Wrigley Field.

Beginning Monday, April 5, Chicago residents eligible under Phase 1A, 1B, and 1C of the city's COVID vaccine rollout will be able to get a vaccine from Chicago State University or the American Airlines Conference Center at Gallagher Way next to Wrigley Field.

Both sites are by appointment only, but the city said initial vaccine appointments at the CSU site will only be open to certain zip codes in order "to ensure equitable distribution." The zip codes include: 60617, 60619, 60620, 60621, 60628, 60633, 60636, 60643, 60649, 60655, and 60827.

The American Airlines Conference Center site at Gallagher Way next to Wrigley Field is open to all Chicagoans who are eligible.

According to the city, those who schedule vaccine appointments will need to bring proof of residency, such as a driver's license, Illinois ID card, REAL ID, City Key Card, library card, postmarked letter, utility bill, voter registration confirmation, Consular ID (Matricula Consular), or another form of identification. A complete list of eligible documents is available at Chicago.gov/COVIDVax.

The city hopes the CSU site will administer approximately 2,2000 doses a day - 1,200 walk-ups and 1,000 drive-thru vaccination appointments - at full capacity. The site will open from 12-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

The American Airlines Conference Center at Gallagher Way near Wrigley Field will administer approximately 2,000 doses a day.

Meanwhile, Naperville is partnering with Jewel-Osco and the Mall of India to host a mass vaccination event exclusively for city residents from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, at the former Sam's Club building at Route 59 and Ogden Avenue.

Naperville hopes to administer 2,700 one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine doses.

Vaccinations are by appointment only, and Naperville residents must schedule appointments online at https://kordinator.mhealthcoach.net/vcl/1617243449655.

Anyone seeking an appointment must live in Naperville and be eligible under the state's guidelines.
