PARK FOREST (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Park Forest police are at the scene of an incident early Friday morning during which four people were shot.
The department said the shooting happened at about 3:30 a.m. during what’s described as “a gathering inside a residence” on the 100 block of Fir Street.
One person was dead at the scene.
Two others were taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds. The fourth was treated at the scene and refused transport to the hospital.
The circumstances are unclear.
“This is an ongoing investigation and it is in the preliminary stages. There continues to be a significant police presence in the area but there is no ongoing threat to the community,” the department said.
