A big change coming to Chicago Sky home games

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — One Chicago team, and another downstate, are trying to make it easier on fans to grab a bite - and not miss the action.

“I’m a giant sports fan, and I also hate leaving my seat,” said Evan Wain, co-founder of Canadian-born company Ordr.

To that end, Wain said Ordr is like Uber Eats for sports fans: allowing fans to order food and drinks while at the game — from any seat.

Ordr co-founder Jade Chiles said missing a great moment at a hockey game while getting a hot dog and a beer a few years ago sparked the idea.

“I tap a button [and] have a car show up; I tap a button [and] have food get dropped off at my house, but why in this day and age — when I’m spending three-four-five hundred dollars for premium entertainment, can I not have that food ordered ahead or, better yet, delivered to your seat.”

Mobile ordering isn’t exactly new to Chicago sports fans. Cubs and White Sox fans have been able to order from their phones or with the MLB Ballpark App for over a year, with fans on the North Side being able to order delivery right to their seat.

Still, the Sky’s partnership with the Canadian-born Ordr means that same innovation will be at Wintrust Arena starting Friday, May 26. Ordr will also be bringing food to fans in downstate Sauget, Ill., later this week for the Gateway Grizzlies minor league baseball team.
