(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Five planets should be visible in the night sky this week but they will be hard to spot without help.
The Adler Planetarium says Monday night will be the best shot to see Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Uranus over Chicago.
The planetarium’s public observing educator, Hunter Miller, suggests watching the horizon to the west right after sunset to see Jupiter and Mercury, which should disappear shortly after the sun.
He says Venus will be the easiest to spot because it’s bright and the highest in the sky, while the reddish hue of Mars will be visible near the moon. Uranus will be harder to see without a telescope.
Miller says if you use a telescope, you’ll have a better chance at distinguishing them as planets instead of mistaking them for stars.
He says even if you don’t see all five in alignment, it should be fun sky watching.
