Ballpark capacity increases to 60% at Guaranteed Rate Field starting Monday

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The first place White Sox are back in town, and starting Monday they will be able to play in front of more fans, as ballpark capacity expands to 60 percent.

Following approval from city and state leadership and public health officials, seating capacity at Guaranteed Rate Field has expanded to 60 percent, or a little over 24,000 fans.

Tickets for games between now and June 16 will be sold in socially distant pods, with an empty seat separating each pod.

Additionally, there are two sections reserved for fully vaccinated fans. Sections 108 and 109 in the right field corner will be sold in full, with no social distancing.

If you want to get in on the fully vaccinated fun, you can do so at one of the two vaccination sites at the ballpark. According to the White Sox, once you get a COVID-19 vaccine shot, you will receive a $25 gift card to spend anywhere at Guaranteed Rate Field. As one team marketing official put it, a shot could be worth a couple of beers.

Face masks are still required and all transactions are cashless. There is also be a no-bag policy.
