(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 12-year-old Glendale Heights boy was ordered on home detention lockdown after he allegedly stabbed another boy Tuesday.

The DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office says the victim, also 12, is expected to recover from his injuries: two stab wounds.

Authorities say it started as a “dispute via Snapchat” that led to a meeting between the two boys.

One of them showed up with a “Batman novelty knife with a 3-inch blade on both ends,” authorities said, stabbed the other boy and then ran away.

Prosecutors say the offender was charged with aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony, and released to the custody of his mother.

“Thankfully, the victim’s injuries are not considered to be life-threatening. What I find particularly disturbing about this case is the age of the accused,” State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release.
