LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Indiana Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against a car dealership in LaGrange County alleging it tampered with odometers.
The lawsuit alleges the Flexible Auto Sales LLC and owner John Allen rolled back odometers on at least 42 used cars that were sold to consumers.
The combined total on those vehicles was more than 3 million miles, according to the lawsuit.
That would mean, on average, each vehicle’s odometer was rolled back by about 70,000 miles.
“We will hold them accountable, and we will make them pay," Attorney General Todd Rokita said in a statement.
The lawsuit alleges violations of the state’s Deceptive Consumer Sales Act, the Indiana Odometer Act, the Federal Odometer Act and the Motor Vehicle Unfair Practices Act.
