(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An IDOT truck was struck early Sunday morning while assisting police with an earlier crash.
It happened on I-94 near Cermak Road just after 4:30 a.m.
A maintenance truck with the Illinois Department of Transportation was blocking the southbound lanes with its emergency lights activated when it was rear-ended by a black Chevy Malibu.
Illinois State Police say a passenger in the Malibu was critically injured.
The truck driver and two other people from the car were also brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Charges are pending for a move-over law violation and the crash is now under investigation.
ISP is reminding drivers of Scott’s Law, which requires drivers to slow down and move over when approaching an emergency vehicle, or any vehicle with their emergency or hazard lights activated.
