(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Two Chicago men have been accused of being involved in a carjacking crew after they were arrested in Barrington over the weekend.

Barrington police said 27-year-old Tavarius Jackson and 23-year-old Lamont Jackson — who were both on parole for prior offenses — stole multiple vehicles from Motor Werks at 1475 S. Barrington Road on Sunday.

Authorities said police responded to a theft reported at the dealership at approximately 8 a.m. Upon arrival, the officer noticed that the security gate was open and set up his squad car across from the dealership’s exit.

Barrington police said Tavarius Jackson, who was driving one of the stolen vehicles, then accelerated and rammed into the squad car in an effort to allow drivers in the other stolen vehicles to escape.

Police said the crew took officers on a high-speed chase, caused four separate crashes, and injured five people. Two people are said to be in serious condition.

In addition to Tavarius Jackson and Lamont Jackson, authorities arrested two of their accomplices and are seeking others.
